Community Summary

Pre-planning studies confirmed the viability of the proposed Blackhall Solar Farm, carefully assessing visual, noise, and other local impacts. Planning permission was granted in 2025, advancing the project toward construction with a targeted operational date of 2030.

Blackhall Solar Farm will generate approx. 193,400  MWh of renewable energy annually—enough to power approx. 45,000 average Irish homes—while offsetting approx. 43,300 tonnes of CO₂ yearly, equivalent to removing approx.  15,700 cars from the roads. This supports Ireland’s target to reach climate neutrality by 2050 Climate Action Plan
